Taiko

Taiko refers either to these Japanese drums or to the art of playing these drums. Taiko bachi is the stick used to hit the taiko drum.

Some examples of taiko include nagado, shime, hira, okedo, katsugi. Taiko drums have various constructions, but they usually have heads on both sides with high head tensions and pitch, and are normally not tunable.

The taiko drum is also the 117th program change in the list of standard MIDI 128 program changes / instruments.
