Kludgemaster, 2016 09 13: I recorded a wave then wanted to use the cut feature to trim the left and the right.

I noticed 2 things

1.) the wave image does not update properly after cutting. If I Switch to singe track view then back to multi track it does update.

2.) the cut is not exact.after trimming the right hand side of the wave, I still hear some sound for a brief moment. I need this to be exact because I want to loop the wave after trimming.

mic, 2016 09 16: On 1): OK. I cannot replicate it, but I will watch for this in future testing.

On 2): After talking today to Kludgemaster – it is possible that this happens because of errors in the drawing of waves and that this has nothing to do with the actual cutting. Sometimes, on zooming in and out horizontally, the wave is drawn incorrectly. Specifically, the peaks of the wave are not draw at the precise place in the timeline, at which they actually occur. Then, if the user uses the peaks to decide where to cut the wave, the cut is wrong.

We will put this as a separate bug in this forum and will correct it with the next version (I will mark this thread as resolved). We will then do some further testing to see if the issue persists. After that, we will also check whether there are issues with snapping.

When selecting, Orinj should snap the ends of the selection to the beats of the time signature line or to the ends of other waves (see Preferences, Snap Options in the menu). If you are selecting from left to right, then there will be vertical red lines that appear on the right side to show that the selection on the right is "snapped". We need to be sure that the selection snaps on the left as well (i.e., when you begin a selection dragging the mouse from left to right). Snapping is the only way to make sure cutting is precise. The alternative is to zoom very far into the wave, but even then the selection (if not snapped) could be off.

mic, 2016 09 21: Drawing when zooming was fixed with Orinj version 2.6.1, which was uploaded to this site on 2016 09 21.
