Most changes between version 5.0.2 and this version 5.0.3 are fixes or improvements in the Scales tool - a tool to show scales and chords on various instruments. Here are these changes.

  • Added new chords - 13th, 6th, and 9th chords
  • Added the Byzantine scale (the fifth mode of the Hungarian scale)
  • Added right to left drawing of the neck for string instruments, which is more natural. The user can still choose to see instruments drawn left to right
  • Fixed a bug when showing the E13 chord, which would cause Orinj to freeze
  • Fixed a bug when choosing to show 8-note scales, closing, and opening Scales again, which would cause Orinj to freeze
  • Fixed fret numbers in Scales to be more visible on light skins
  • Fixed the length of notes when playing in Scales to be properly initialized when Scales starts
  • Fixed the thickness of strings when drawing chords to match the thickness of strings when drawing scales
  • Made sure the fifth note on pentatonic scales is identified (similarly to the ones on heptatonic scales)
  • Fixed the control which chords to show on pentatonic scales, as it was not working properly

Other changes include the following.

  • Added an error message to show when MIDI instruments are not available in the SF2 file (e.g., when the SF2 file is not a real general MIDI compliant file)
  • Fixed the name of the wave file that is produced when converting a MIDI file to wave in certain cases
  • Changed the error message when adding a hit to a loop track with no wave sample so that it is not confusing
  • Fixed a minor bug that created problems when adding the first hit, especially after trying to add a beat without a sample and then adding a sample
  • Fixed the frequency labels on the graph of the high pass filter
  • Fixed the errors that are showing when Orinj cannot open devices for playback or recording, so that the errors are clearer. Also, made sure that errors do not show twice
