Here are the changes in between this beta version 8 release and the previous version 7.1.1 of Orinj.
- Added functionality to add tracks to the session and to remove tracks from the session
- Changed the auxiliary channels so that they show up as tracks in the session. The aux channels are the same as all other tracks, except they do not allow recording. Instead, they obtain input from other tracks. Effects, envelopes, and other track controls work the same way for aux channels and for regular tracks
- Implemented MIDI recording
- Added the ability to change the MIDI input and output device
- Added MP3 decoding to permit the insertion of MP3 files in the session. MP3 files will be converted to wave files when inserted in the session
- Added a pitch shift effect. The pitch shift in previous versions worked only in the single wave view and did not use the Orinj effect framework
- Changed the initial values of pitch shift and stretch dialogs for better pitch shifting and stretching with less user input
- Added a gain effect
- Fixed the convolution effect to avoid clipping
- Fixed the controls for the MIDI modulation wheel, channel pressure, and key pressure
- Removed outdated Orinj skins
- Allowed the changing of skins without the restart of Orinj
Lv2
Please add lv2 plugin support for linux users. There are many plugins available on linux in this format.
Yes on LV2
This is a great suggestion and thank you for the idea!
The timing is interesting. We just published a major version update – version 8 – and I do not expect large changes to functionality until version 9. With version 8, the focus will likely be on smaller improvements such as: better precision in automation points, locking auxiliary channels, changing how loops are exported into individual instrument tracks, perhaps some new effects such as a tape delay. If we manage to get through these quickly then LV2 is definitely on the table. LV2 seems quite streamlined in comparison with VST.
