The following are the changes between Orinj version 4.0.8 and version 4.0.7. Version 4.0.8 is still beta.

  • Made sure residual audio data is removed from effects when playback stops and restarts, so that there are no odd pops in subsequent playbacks. This was an omission introduced in the previous version, when working to speed up effects
  • Making changes to VU meters, so that they do not temporarily freeze on the stop and restart of playback and so that there is no residual audio data after stopping playback
  • Changed the presets of the notch filter to make the filter more useful. The new presets help users filter out offending frequencies to make recordings less boomy, boxy, or nasal or to remove too much sibilance
  • Added similar presets in the parametric equalizer
  • Changed the notch filter graph to make the frequency axis exponential, as that is how frequencies are perceived by humans. This also makes the notch filter graph consistent with the graphs of the graphic equalizer and parametric equalizer
  • Simplified the graphs of the graphic equalizer, notch filter, and parametric equalizer to only show the actual magnitude responses (not desired ones)
  • Fixed the phase oscilloscope. Due to an error introduced in the previous version, the oscilloscope would not display anything
  • Also fixed phase oscilloscope to align the left and right channels. In previous versions, the graph was slightly skewed towards one of the channels
  • Fixed the echo, which was placing some left channel audio into the right channel and creating breaks in the audio of the left channel
  • Fixed bypassing effects. Because of an error introduced in the previous version, bypassing effects did not work
  • Cleaned up of some old code in the effects, left from the versions before the previous version changed the effects to speed them up. This applies to all effects except the dither, distortion, spectrum monitor, and wah wah
  • Fixed the processing effects when the user presses Cancel after clicking on Effect and the Process in the menu. Thus, when the processing of an effect is cancelled, the effect would not be removed from the list of effects applied to the track or wave
  • Fixed a couple of issues in the processing of effects over tracks in the multitrack session. Those issues would crash Orinj
  • Also made sure the processing of effects in the session works with the new file management logic, where the new files created are temporary and Orinj will ask whether to save on exit
  • Made sure that if the user clicks Undo after processing an effect in the single wave view, the effect is returned to the list of effects applied to the wave
  • Made sure opened effect windows are closed if the user chooses to process an effect, otherwise the user may end up with a window for an effect that no longer exists
  • Made sure the processing of effects deletes any temporary files if the user hits Cancel
  • Made sure that multiple temporary files created by multiple operations on a single wave in the single wave view are deleted on exit
  • Reenabled the message that processing effects in the demo version is limited to the first 5 seconds. The processing is limited either way but, without the message, the user would not know
  • In the single wave view, made sure any temporary files created when processing effects are deleted if the user chooses to close the file without saving
  • When with demo license, made sure that the user is not bombarded with messages that the mixing in the demo version is limited to the first 30 seconds, if these messages are from the mixing of loop files created in the loop building view and added to the session
  • Made minor changes to the handle the time limit of playback in the demo license version
